MySpace development kit used by spammers

Itworld.com is reporting that the development kit released by MySpace is being used by spammers. The development kit was supposed to get open source developers to hook MySpace to applications all over the web. While that type of work is in progress, others have started to send non-stop spams out. MySpace is now making changes to the development kit to stop the sending of unwanted emails. Applications now must explicitly tell users what they do and how they work before  they will be allowed to connect to MySpace. The fear is that hackers will get hold of this toolkit to send spyware and malware to every MySpace contact you have made. Since most users are running Microsoft Windows it is easy to hook up one of the hacking kits to the MySpace development tools, creating a conduit to take over any computer logging into the popular service.

Hopefully MySpace will be able to lock down access to their service to bona fide companies and individuals that have safe and useful programs to plug in. It is sad that virtually everything that people gravitate to is eventually attacked by criminals and  miscreants. You can keep your computer safe by running anti virus and anti-spyare programs and keep them up to date. The hackers are expecting that most don’t have the time or expertise to do this. So protect yourself so that when an outbreak happens you will be prepared.

just a few days ago we watched Spinal Tap on DVD. In the movie they play in Chapel Hill and here we find ourselves just a few days later playing in Chapel Hill. To be honest we did not anything about the city besides the fact that Spinal Tap played here… Now we know more and we like it!
